Tugu MONAS was always viewed from the car on the way to other destinations. This time around, we stopped to visit upon request by bibik...
The majestic Tugu MONAS with 50 kg of pure gold sitting on top.
Adin & Bibik
Me & Adin
This trip with Masni (bibik) was what my cousin called doing the unPekIm. She and her friends coined the terminology for those who are cruel to the 'bibiks' as being so "Pek Im".
Oh well.... Not everybody are lucky to get such good help these days. And the bibiks are also not always lucky to get good employers.

Jakarta & Taman Safari
Was in Jakarta recently for a break. Even though this was the umpteenth trip, Jakarta never cease to amaze me. This time its just me & adin with the bibik...
Adin before boarding the plane...
Adin in the plane...
The trip was more of a guilt trip for not spending enough time with my Adin during the school holiday the week before, and for me to explore parts of Jakarta which I never could if I were to travel with the husband.
The next day was a trip to Taman Safari, specially requested by Adin...
Adin in the car during the journey...
(Adin actually only needs good book and good music to keep himself occupied and entertained. I sometimes wonder if Jakarta or this trip interests him at all)
It was also public holiday in Indonesia, hence traffic was not very kind...
Pretty peacock...
This animal was practically eating out of my hand.
Graceful giraffe...
Ferocious feline...
Obnoxious Orang utan...
Great grizzly...
... but all was spoilt by a little flurry butterfly. Adin hates butterfly. This little one was fluttering on the walkway to the loo.. thus ending the trip...

Miri; 20-29 Feb 2008
I was in Miri with colleagues for work. But hey, work was only from 8.00 am to 6.00 pm. It was such a pleasant surprise to find such healthy dish for lunch...
Lalapan - a dish of blanched vegetables with tempeh, tauhu, sumptuous sambal belacan with choice of fried fish cutlet, chicken or beef, served with steaming hot white rice...
Lalapan daging... a complete meal just by itself.
It was the night before we left that we had the opportunity to explore the night market of Miri in Pujut. It was truly a different experience altogether. Not that I don't go to pasar malam in Subang Jaya but this pasar malam was very interesting...
Neatly arranged ikan bakar...
Another ikan bakar stall.
I was at awe with rows and rows of kek lapis...
Each design was given a different name...
More kek lapis...
This one was called "bunga-bunga cinta", huh?! whatever...
Now I know where Mr Manager sourced the classic sodas for Ning's wedding...
Then off for dinner...
The "gang" after dinner...
Colleagues and friends together through thick and thin but after a very long 10 days, we were so ready to go home!
(from left - Guna, Kamal, Me, Azidah & Erlena)
Till next time, Miri!
