Happy Birthday Yaya!

Yaya turns 21 today!

But to me she will always be the little girl in floral dress who sent me to the airport when I was leaving for further studies in the US.

Subang Airport, December 1990

Then, 16 years later, it was my turn to send her to the airport when she was leaving to further her studies in the UK.

Yaya with Adin who couldn't care less where Kak Yaya is going.

Twenty one is the threshold to adulthood. Its not everyday you turn 21 and being 21 comes with huge responsibilities... One can vote and decide on the fate of the country!

Turning 21 is a big deal!

Yaya, as I did, celebrate our 21st birthday away from our families... But among good friends...

Eventhough we couldn't celebrate your big day with you, Yaya, you are always in our thoughts...

The Theater Buff

Saturday nite out at the theater - Topeng Topeng directed by Fauziah Nawi

I was invited by a good friend, Ezane to join him and his friends, Fatin & Eamy, to watch a theater at Stor Teater DBP, located at Jalan Dewan Bahasa, Kuala Lumpur.

It was a Malay theater, so Ezane suggested that we go in traditional Malay outfits but I opted for a fussion instead - kebaya top & jeans.

The dialogues in the play were the poems by Dato' Baha Zain, writen in the 1960s.
So, did I understand the theater? I have to be honest and say no.
Without the programme and the play synopis, I would be totally lost!
But I really appreciated the acting and music. Why? Because it was directed by Fauziah Nawi and the actors were superb!

They delivered their lines perfectly. Their voice projection was excellent.
You just have to give it up to Fauziah Nawi!
Music by Iryanda Mulia Ramly was flawless. Iryanda played the guitar and sang at the same time. The entire cast also sang. They sang from their soul and did it within the characters they played. Very impressive!

The Techno-geek in Me

I am a gadget junkie and a techno-geek! There... I'm not in denial. I have embraced the fact that I am addicted to things that are current in the market - gadgets that is. Also handbags but that's a different story altogether.

I read T3, HWM and Mobile magazines now. No more URTV, Mangga, Media Hiburan and Hai.

I carry 4 thumb drives with me at all times. I also have SD card reader and SD card adaptor for micro SD in my handbag. I have iPod and also the protable hard drive with stuff from my office computer, in case I need them when I'm at home.

I applaud Kingston for coming out with matching sets of 4-pcs of thumb drive with colour codes for easy data segregation - work, personal, play, etc.

(For illustrations purpose only).

My latest acquisition is the iPhone - the ultimate gadget of the year (16 GB, mind you).

My new iPhone, fresh from the box.

I initially wanted to wait for iPhone to be officially launched in Malaysia in order to 'legally' own it but its taking too long. I actually called Apple Malaysia on the very day it was launched in USA last June. Hoping to get an answer on when it will be officially launched in Malaysia. But it was dissapointing to note that the person answering the hotline had the faintest idea about iPhone.

I hope the 2nd generation will be available in Malaysia soon. Mr Steve Jobs, take note:
- please make the phone free for all service subscribers - Malaysians don't like to be subjected to terms and conditions of having to use a different service provider when they are already subscribed to one.

- please include 3G or 4G feature - for whatever reason, Malaysians are becoming very kiasu, we need to have the latest and the best technology has to offer regardless if we use it or know how to use it at all.

- try to make the battery last longer.

The next thing in my gadget wish list is a macbook. That will complete my gadget list and make me be in gadget heaven.

Sayonara KK

Time to say goodbye to KK. Its been a very long 5 days...

Before leaving for the airport, we managed to grab a bite at Fish & Co in town.

Azidah's grilled salmon.
And by the time the rest of our food arrived, we were too hungry to take any photos...

Last stop: KK Airport

Everybody is so ready to go home...

Islah was also on the same flight home...

Day 6

My fever was full blown in the morning, while Azidah had hers the day before.

After breakfast I took Azidah for a walk at the harbour to show her the crystal clear waters of Sutera Harbour.

Azidah striking a pose despite being under the weather.

The crystal clear water - the little blue tailed fish swimming away without a care...

Garden view.

Harbour view.

Mandara Spa here I come...

Made an appointment for muscle ease massage after the morning walk.

Day 5

Second day into the conference. The casualty began. One by one was down with fever, from being overworked and extreme fatigue.

Some of us perservere but inside, only god knows how tired we were.

Right after packing was done, we were off to town.

In the midst of running a fever, I still managed to shop.

Retail therapy was what I needed.

Dinner was eventful. Food aplenty.

At awe with the blue neon light...

Some 'siput' and squid that's supposed to be our 'sabah vege' dish...

White clam with ginger sauce.

Mantis prawns.

Chilli crabs.

Steamed buns to be eaten with the chilli crabs.

Depite the tiredness, we managed to eat the food and after that Erlena and I decided to call it a night while the rest went on...

Day 4

The D-day. Opening ceremony went well. Thereafter I was off to settle the VIP seating arrangements for the night's event.

It was indeed a pleasant surprise when WR showed up at Tarik's Lobby Lounge for a cuppa coffee.

Someone said that Tarik's Lobby Lounge serves the best karipap in the whole of Sabah. But we think Fatimah's karipap sardin is the best in the whole world!

Corporate look for the corporate booth.

Day 3

Checked out of Le Meridien and checked in Pacific Sutera.

While some of us had to handle golf tournament the rest stayed back at Sutera Harbour to help salvage the event.

No pictures could describe our bustling activities the day prior to D-day.

Day 2

The real work begins....
